What type of footwear do you recommend?

We recommend flat soled footwear preferably soft and below the ankle such as slippers, trainers or deck shoes that fit well and wont slip off.

Do I need to be fit to do tai chi?

You do not need to be fit in the usual use of the word. Tai Chi is a gentle exercise, always performed within the capabilities of the individual.  You will undoubtedly find that your fitness improves as you continue to practise tai chi, as it enhances energy flow in the body, but not through work out type of exercise.
